WHAT IS TADA?
TADA (Twirling and Dance Association) is a non-profit organization that was founded in 2005 by: Christina Danz, Nicole DiNonno, Tracy Kerr, Sasha Napoli, Catherine Olson, and Jordana Young.
Our objective is:
• To provide instruction in twirling and dance at a minimum cost with a maximum benefit for all students.
• To promote the welfare of children by directing their energies to becoming creative thinkers and confident leaders.
• To help increase self-esteem and team spirit.
WHEN & WHERE ARE CLASSES HELD?
Our classes take place at Paul J Bellew Elementary School both on the stage in the auditorium (dance & twirling) and in the gym (twirling) on Monday - Thursday evenings on a weekly basis.
ARE CLASSES STILL HELD WHEN SCHOOLS ARE CLOSED?
No. TADA operates on the school calendar. Classes will not be held any time there are school closures or a cancellation of after-school activities. In the event that classes must be cancelled for another reason, you will be notified by a class parent.
WILL THERE BE MULTIPLE STYLES AVAILABLE FOR STUDENTS?
Yes!! However, due to the fact that we operate on time allotted to us by West Islip School District, we are not able to offer extended class times of every style of dance and fit it all in to our operating hours. Because of this, we must utilize our time wisely to offer as many styles as possible for each age group. Therefore, our program works slightly differently than a typical studio.
Every student at TADA must enroll in a core class, eligible to their age group, then students in grades 2 and up will have the option to add on specialty classes of various other styles starting in mid-October.
DO YOU ACCEPT DEBIT/CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS?
Unfortunately, we currently do not have the ability to accept debit/credit/ or digital payments and can only accept cash or check at this time. We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause and are currently working on ways to expand our payment options. So, for the time being, we can only accept payments the old fashioned way.
WHAT IS A CORE CLASS?
A core class is a required class for enrollment at TADA . Here students will be taught their basic foundation that can be carried through to other styles that they may choose to additionally enroll in at a discounted rate once the year begins. Every student at TADA must enroll in a core class. Core class tuition will include classes, a costume and end of year trophy.
WHAT STYLES ARE AVAILABLE FOR CORE CLASSES?
Core class styles available depend on the age of the student and what style would be most beneficial to them at that point in the development of their versatility, coordination, and technique.
PLEASE NOTE: THERE IS A LIMITED NUMBER OF SPACE IN EACH CORE CLASS AND CLASSES WILL BE FILLED & CLOSED ON A FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS
WHAT IS A SPECIALTY CLASS?
A specialty class is an add-on class at a discounted rate which will specialize in various styles. Some styles that may be included as specialty add-on classes are hip hop, lyrical, ballet, theater & more!
These classes are 30 mins each and are held weekly.
Specialty class costumes will be provided by TADA for each student for the recital but must be returned to the organization after the Sunday performance.
WHEN WILL I KNOW WHAT NIGHTS THE SPECIALTY CLASSES I’M INTERESTED IN WILL BE HELD?
Our official specialty schedule will not be released until mid-October due to the fact that we will not be accepting specialty enrollment until that time. However, if you would like to plan ahead please feel free to ask one of our board members to let you know which nights the style you are interested in will be held.
DO YOU HAVE TO BE A WEST ISLIP RESIDENT TO JOIN TADA?
No! While the majority of our organization is made up of West Islip residents, TADA gladly welcomes & accepts students from neighboring communities.
DO I HAVE TO LEAVE A PAYMENT AT REGISTRATION?
Yes! We request that, when possible, the class be paid for in full at registration. However, if that is not possible, you are welcome to speak with a board memeber to see if a payment plan is possible. Unfortunately, we fill and close our classes on a first come first serve basis and if no payment is left the student runs the risk of losing their spot in the class.
HOW CAN I HELP OUT AT TADA?
If you are interested in helping out at our organization, we are always looking for volunteers. Please feel free to approach a charter member or board member at any time and express your interest in volunteering your time. We are always looking for class parents or committee members to help our organization run as smoothly as possible throughout the year.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN OUR ORGANIZATION!
